The armies of Kingdom Hex: part 1

Updated: Sep 15

Kingdom Hex features a total of ten armies, each with ten unique troops, and every troop possesses a special ability. Let's take a closer look at 5 of these armies.

Humans are balanced and versatile, enabling them to adapt to various situations. Their troops are well-suited for a wide range of strategies, including rapid expansion, siege tactics, spell damage, and more. The Human biome features green fields and lush forests, providing a neutral backdrop that blends well with the biomes of other armies.

One of my favorite armies to design and paint was the Dwarves. Their strong character offers numerous options for troop creation. Dwarves have units that can provide armor, grant flight, and resist magic damage. They inhabit snow-covered rocky lands with pine trees and alpine peaks.

The High Elves of Kingdom Hex are masters of magic. Many of their troops cast powerful spells and can enhance each other's magic. Their flying units serve as excellent scouts, and the Red Dragon ranks among the strongest troops in the game. The High Elf biome is characterized by emerald green fields, with even the mountains adorned with magical glyphs.

The Orcs are a fast and aggressive army. Their early-game troops are inexpensive, swift, and lethal, while their late-game units are heavy-hitting and resilient. The Orcs' class fantasy is well-represented by their ten troops. They originate from the deep deserts, where few other armies could endure.

The Undead army summons allies before combat and turns the bodies of the fallen into allies during battle. The concept was to create an army that starts out fragile but becomes a massive horde of undead in the late game. Their biome is a fetid swamp. I particularly enjoyed developing the Undead troops and their environment.

These are just the first five armies, with more to come. We look forward to having you command one of these armies soon.
